In the Game Development work environment, game ideas and concepts are created for entertainment and gaming machines as well as for online and app-based games. Whether in Game Design, Graphic Design or Audio & Sound Design, or in Software Development or Hardware Development – you create innovative content, work with modern technologies and shape gaming experiences that define the product world of our group of companies.
With creativity, technical expertise and an eye for detail, you work in an environment where creative teams come together and transform initial concepts into market-ready products.
Are you looking for an environment where you can expand your experience and take responsibility for innovative game ideas? In development, you actively shape software, hardware or game design and drive creative and technical solutions forward.
Do you want to enter the world of game development after your apprenticeship or degree? With us, you support UI design, testing, prototyping or data preparation, learn about development processes and grow into projects that combine creative ideas, user experience and modern technologies.
A career change into the gaming world is possible with us. You will be systematically introduced to tasks such as software testing, device and feature testing, content preparation or process support, gradually building an understanding of technologies, game mechanics and development workflows.
An apprenticeship with a focus on design, IT or systems technology offers you an entry into the world of games, prototyping and digital tools. You will gain insights into visual design, testing, technical processes and basic development workflows, and contribute to exciting ideas from an early stage.
The Dual Study Programme – Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics – IT Consulting (m/f/d) provides an entry into the world of electronic systems, hardware and software development, and digital technologies. You support development processes, test functionalities and contribute to innovative gaming solutions.
An internship allows you to gain practical experience in areas such as Game Design, testing, content preparation or data analysis. You will support creative and technical processes, assist development teams and gain insights into how modern game features and prototypes are created.
A working student role in game development offers practical experience in Game Design, testing or data-driven tasks. You work closely with development teams, support both creative and technical processes and directly connect your studies with innovative gaming projects.
When an idea becomes a new MERKUR game, the process begins in Game Design. Here, creativity, mathematics and technology come together to shape concepts, mechanics and features. You develop themes, design gameplay and work closely with Graphic Design, Audio & Sound Design, Software Development and Hardware Development using tools such as Unity, C++ or C# to create market-ready games that inspire players worldwide.
Where logic meets emotion, the mathematical foundation of every game takes shape. You develop and define models for game mechanics, payout structures and probabilities, creating the invisible backbone of each player experience. Through simulations, test runs and statistical analyses, you ensure fairness, excitement and balance. Your way of working is characterised by precision, integrity and creativity. In doing so, you act as an interface between game design, software development and technology, combining analytical thinking with engaging gameplay dynamics.
Where visual worlds are created, Graphic Design shapes the identity of every game. You develop 3D models, objects and characters, animate themed environments and implement designs for national and international slot games. Using tools such as Photoshop, After Effects or Blender, you combine creativity and technology to create atmospheric and detailed gaming experiences.
The Audio & Sound Design department shapes the acoustic identity of our games. You create individual sound effects, music and voice elements for slot games, sequences and specific gameplay situations. Using tools such as Cubase, Pro Tools, Ableton Live or Reaper, you develop distinctive soundscapes and compositions. Close collaboration with Hardware Development ensures perfectly coordinated audio output across all devices.
When concepts are transformed into fully functioning games, the focus lies on software development. You programme in languages such as C++ and work with tools like the Godot Engine and Unity Engine on modern architectures, microservices and cloud solutions. In addition to game software, you develop systems for AI-driven analytics, security and online gaming. International collaboration, code reviews and performance testing are just as much a part of your work as the use of innovative tools to ensure efficient development and high quality.
To ensure that games run reliably, Hardware Development provides the technical foundation for all devices. You develop electronic components, circuit boards and modules, simulate circuits and programme hardware-related software in C or C++. Using tools such as Design Gateway or Design Force, you create solutions that combine functionality, efficiency and reliability in modern gaming devices.
Before a game is released, Quality Assurance tests hardware and software for functionality, performance and user experience. You simulate scenarios, analyse results and work closely with Production. This ensures that devices are manufactured precisely, meet the highest standards and perform reliably in operation – delivering stable gaming experiences in the MERKUR world.
For developers (m/f/d), languages such as C#, JavaScript, Unity, C++ or Python are relevant. Designers often work with the Adobe Creative Suite or Blender. In project management, we use tools such as Jira, Confluence and agile methodologies.
It’s very interdisciplinary. Mathematicians, developers and graphic designers work together in agile teams. Ideas are tested, optimised and further developed in short sprints, using real user feedback.
Many of our projects are aimed at international audiences. You may contribute to globally distributed products, participate in international trade fairs or work in intercultural teams.
After receiving your application, we review your documents and invite you to an initial interview. Depending on the role, there may be a technical task – such as a game or UX concept or a technical challenge – before proceeding with the next steps in the application process.
In Corporate Functions, business management becomes tangible through areas such as Controlling and Marketing, PR & Events.
