Welcome to the MERKUR GROUP

The first day of an apprenticeship is something truly special: new people, new impressions and the beginning of a whole new chapter. For our 65 apprentices and dual study students, 1 August 2025 marked exactly that moment – their first step into professional life at the MERKUR GROUP.

To kick things off, we spent five days together at Schloss Benkhausen. It gave our apprentices and students the chance not only to get to know each other in a relaxed setting, but also to gain their first insights into the MERKUR GROUP and its training programmes.

This year, we welcomed:

  • 3 Apprenticeship Program – Warehouse Logistics Specialist (m/f/d)
  • 2 Apprenticeship Program – Customer Relationship Management Specialist (m/f/d)
  • 1 Apprenticeship Program – Freight Forwarding and Logistics Specialist (m/f/d)
  • 1 Apprenticeship Program – Wholesale and Foreign Trade Specialist (m/f/d)

  • 4 Dual Study Program – Bachelor of Science (m/f/d)
  • 2 Apprenticeship Program – Hospitality Management Specialist (m/f/d)

Right from the start, the focus was on settling in, asking questions and becoming part of the team. Especially in the beginning, it’s important to us that everyone feels welcome and starts building connections.

The relaxed atmosphere at Schloss Benkhausen provided the perfect setting for this. Between introduction rounds, workshops and shared meals at the Rentei, there was plenty of time to connect and form new friendships.

Of course, the first week wasn’t just about getting to know each other. Our new apprentices and dual study students also had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the MERKUR GROUP.

A particular highlight was the visit to the arcade museum, where they gained fascinating insights into the history of gaming machines. Another item on the agenda was a factory tour in Lübbecke, where they saw where our machines are made and the steps involved before they are installed in our arcades and venues.

Practical basics for everyday working life were also covered. This included setting up their laptops and attending important safety training sessions, such as fire safety instruction. This ensured everyone was well prepared to start their apprenticeship.

Starting a career is a big step for many people. That’s why, at the MERKUR GROUP, it’s especially important to us to support our apprentices from day one. These first days help them get to know the company, feel comfortable within the team and begin their apprenticeship with confidence.
