In order to guarantee continued existence as a corporate group for the coming generations, the international Gauselmann Group, founded by Paul Gauselmann in 1957 and re-named into MERKUR GROUP in 2024, has operated since 1 January 2016 under the mantle of the Gauselmann Family Foundation.
With this step, the Gauselmann family of entrepreneurs has paved the way for the MERKUR GROUP’s long-term cohesion and stable future as an employer and driving force for the economy. As sole shareholder of the four family lines of the founder, the Gauselmann Family Foundation makes all fundamental and strategic management decisions needed to ensure the group’s long-term commercial success.
The Advisory Board of the Gauselmann Family Foundation consists of a majority of family members in order to demonstrate the Gauselmann family's clear and lasting commitment to the company and the region. In this way, three generations are united on the advisory board. This creates both foresight and cohesion.
The family foundation is managed by the foundation chairman Michael Gauselmann and his vice chairman Manfred Stoffers.
Management Board of the MERKUR GROUP
The Management Board Members of the various business segments are responsible for implementing the strategy and direction of the MERKUR GROUP, which are decided upon by the Foundation’s Board of Directors and the Foundation’s Advisory Board.
The Supervisory Board takes on the function of controlling body within the company. Unlike the Management Board, it does not intervene in day-to-day business operations but instead monitors the activities of the various managing entities.
