Nestled within a spacious, idyllic park landscape, Benkhausen Castle is a special place for encounters, further education and relaxation. The historic building complex combines stylish hotel rooms, modern conference facilities and high-quality gastronomy under one roof. The expansive castle grounds, with their circular walking trail, are freely accessible and invite visitors to linger all year round.

Commitment to the region

With the acquisition of the over 500-year-old castle in 2010, the Gauselmann entrepreneurial family set a strong example for the preservation of regional architectural and cultural heritage. As one of the few remaining historic buildings of Westphalian cultural tradition, Benkhausen Castle was comprehensively and carefully modernised in less than five years and developed into one of the region’s leading conference hotels. Today, it serves as the in-house training centre of the MERKUR GROUP and at the same time as an exclusive event location that is also open to external companies and event organisers.

Meet. Enjoy. Experience.

Whether seminars, workshops, business meetings or conferences – Benkhausen Castle provides the perfect setting for both internal and external events. In addition, cultural events, exhibitions and civil wedding ceremonies are regularly held here. Since May 2015, the castle café “Die Rentei” and the German Coin-op Museum have been popular excursion destinations in the Mühlenkreis district, attracting numerous visitors, particularly at weekends. Another special highlight is the castle’s own landing stage, which is regularly served by the Minden passenger shipping company.

Benkhausen Castle uniquely combines history and modernity – as a place of learning, encounter and cultural exchange in the heart of the region.
