What once began in Delmenhorst has developed into a market leader

Under the logo of the laughing MERKUR sun, the Gauselmann Group operates over 800 arcades in Germany and other European countries. Paul Gauselmann paved the way for this development with the opening of his first proprietary arcade in Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony, in 1974. In the same year, he founded what is today MERKUR Casino GmbH, the operating company of the German MERKUR arcades. Today the company is market leader and operates some 400 arcades throughout Germany.

The first arcade outside Germany was opened in Amsterdam in 1986. With more than 400 arcades, the company is present in the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, Croatia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Serbia.

The cornerstone of the MERKUR CASINOS’ success is the concept introduced by Paul Gauselmann in 1974 combining a unique atmosphere, innovative products and games, best service and qualified personnel. These four factors are still realised in all of the company’s arcades to this day, always adapted to the requirements of the target groups in the respective country.

This concept is confirmed by numerous certifications and awards. For example, MERKUR Casino is certified for its quality management in accordance with the international DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 standard and has received the Germany’s Most Popular Arcade and Top National Employer quality seals, among others.

MERKUR CASINO also shares its expertise with others. With ‘Arcade management exclusive by MERKUR CASINO’, the company offers a service concept for slot machine operators and actively supports them in the operational management of their arcades.
