The MERKUR GROUP offers students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the areas of business economics (nationally and internationally), IT and technical fields. We advertise vacancies for internships or final theses publicly. If your specialist area isn’t among them, we look forward to an application on spec from you for the following divisions:
Depending on the desired specialisation, you can complete your internship at our locations in Espelkamp, Lübbecke, Magstadt or Hamburg.
Yes, it is generally three months. This is because as a Fair Company we want to recruit interns for a meaningful period of time in order to actively involve them in day-to-day operations and charge them with tasks of their own. If your mandatory internship period is shorter, feel free to contact us – we’ll work out an individual solution for you.
As well as fair remuneration, you are of course also entitled to leave during your internship. The exact number of days depends on the duration of your internship. In addition, we are certified as a Fair Company and live by fair and transparent internship conditions in all respects. For you, this means you not only acquire in-depth knowledge of the department you are working in, but also gain comprehensive insight into the entire MERKUR GROUP.
Yes, this is generally possible, ideally after first completing an internship in order to obtain an adequate overview of the department and its processes. Do you already have a topic? Great – we look forward to your inquiry and will check whether and how we can help you prepare it. If we are unable to supervise your chosen topic, our specialist departments will be happy to help you find a new thematic focus.
The best way is to apply online using the APPLY DIRECTLY button in the JOB VACANCIES section. Please do not apply by e-mail or phone. This is cheaper for you and also more environmentally friendly – and guarantees that your application lands on the right desk.
Apart from your CV in table form and a brief cover letter, please send us your most recent references as well as your transcript of results. In addition, we need the following information regarding your internship: your preferred start date, the duration and type (mandatory/voluntary). If we are then still missing something, we will contact you. In that case, you can then simply e-mail us the missing documents.
First of all, your CV should contain your full contact details, including your name, address, telephone number and an e-mail address. Next, clearly list your positions to date, e.g. apprenticeship, internships, student traineeships and projects. Do this in reverse-chronological order; in other words, start with your current activity, i.e. your studies. For each of your positions, explain the qualifications and experiences you have gained with three to five bullet points. Lastly, check that there are no spelling mistakes and that all dates are correct.
To ensure that your documents are displayed properly in our application management system, please send them in PDF format only (max. 25 MB).
Yes, we always keep our Careers page fully up to date. As long as the job is online, feel free to submit your application.
Yes, you can apply on spec at any time, among others for the following divisions:
Please note that it takes longer to examine applications that are made on spec, as we need to forward these to our various departments group-wide.
If you think that your skills and knowledge match several of our student positions, you are welcome to submit multiple applications. The important thing is that you apply separately for each internship using the online form.
Ideally, you should submit your application around 3–4 months before you wish to start, as naturally it takes some time to examine your documents closely. For applications that are made on spec, our experience has shown that it takes a while longer before all of the divisions have viewed the documents and given feedback.
No, there are no application deadlines attached to our positions. If the position is online, feel free to submit your application!
If you have any queries, Svenja Albrecht would be delighted to assist you and can be contacted at +49 5772 49-3912 .
First, we check whether your application documents are complete, before forwarding them to the respective department to be viewed. If we are impressed by your application documents, we invite you to an initial informal interview or a video interview. We then send you feedback on your interview as quickly as possible and information on the next steps.
Sometimes it can take longer to process your application because staff are on leave or absent due to illness. If this happens in your case, we will of course let you know in a timely manner. In addition, you can inquire about the current status of your application at any time.
You can, of course, withdraw your application at any time – a simple phone call or brief e-mail will suffice. Your personal data will then be deleted in compliance with the law.
